Welcome to My World of Words: A Journey Through Emotions and Expressions

Hello! I’m Kanika Kaushal, and I’ve always believed that words have a magical ability to express the depth of our emotions. I started this blog as a quiet place for my thoughts, a sanctuary where I could pour out my innermost feelings. Over the years, it has grown into more than just a personal outlet—it’s become a space where I explore life, love, and all the complex emotions that come with being human.

A Little About Me

I was born and raised in India, a place known for its vibrant culture and rich traditions. I did my schooling at Carmel Convent and later pursued B.Tech in Computer Science from NIT, Bhopal. You might wonder how a technical background blends with poetry—it’s because my love for words existed long before I started coding. For over a decade, I’ve been writing poems that reflect who I am, where I come from, and how I see the world.

Poetry, for me, isn’t just about pretty words. It’s an emotional journey. Every poem I write reflects a part of my soul, whether it's about the highs and lows of love, the quiet strength found in friendships, or the reflective moments that follow loss. I write to feel, to understand, and sometimes to heal.

Why Cruising Alone?

I chose the name Cruising Alone for this blog because that’s often how I feel in life: navigating the currents of emotions, sometimes lost, sometimes found, but always moving. While I may seem extroverted, there’s a quieter part of me that prefers to retreat into my thoughts, crafting poems from fleeting moments and unspoken feelings. And now, after years of anonymous writing, I’ve grown more confident in sharing these thoughts with the world.

My poetry started as an outlet for vulnerability, a safe space to explore the innermost corners of my mind without judgment. But over time, I realized that my experiences aren’t mine alone—many of you may feel the same things I write about. Whether it’s the pain of loss or the joy of love, these universal emotions tie us together. I hope my words can resonate with your own journey, perhaps even provide solace when you need it most.

What You’ll Find Here

On this blog, you’ll find a variety of poems, each with its own story to tell. Some are deeply personal, while others explore universal themes like resilience, self-discovery, and empowerment. I also write about love in all its forms—from the romantic kind we dream about to the love that challenges and teaches us.

Additionally, my poetry touches upon complex themes, often drawing inspiration from my personal experiences, spiritual beliefs, and observations about the world around me. Sometimes, I even delve into topics related to culture and history, using metaphors and symbolism to bridge the gap between the past and present.

My Writing Style

If you enjoy poems that make you pause and reflect, you’re in the right place. My style often takes the form of elegy, rich with emotion, self-reflection, and a touch of melancholy. But don’t get me wrong—I don’t shy away from hope. Many of my poems are about finding light after darkness, about embracing our inner strength and rising above life’s challenges.

I aim for simplicity in my language while making sure each line carries weight. I use metaphors drawn from nature, history, and everyday life to make my poems relatable yet layered with meaning.

What I Aim to Achieve

Through this blog, I want to create a space where emotions are honored, where vulnerability is celebrated, and where readers can find pieces of themselves within my words. Poetry is more than just a form of writing—it’s a mirror, reflecting our souls, our fears, our dreams. And as I continue on my journey of self-expression, I hope to inspire others to embrace their own emotions and stories.

For me, writing isn’t about showing off how much I know or impressing people with complex words. It’s about connecting. I want my readers to feel like they’re having a conversation with a close friend—someone who understands, someone who’s been there. So whether you’re here to enjoy a few lines of poetry or dive deep into emotional reflection, I hope you’ll feel welcome.

Join Me on This Journey

If you’ve ever found yourself reflecting on life’s big questions, wondering about love, loss, or what it means to truly know oneself, I think you’ll enjoy being part of this journey. Each poem I write is a step in understanding my own path, and I hope it inspires you to reflect on your own.

So, let’s take this journey together—through words, through feelings, through the ups and downs of life. Thank you for visiting Cruising Alone. I can’t wait to share my poems with you and hear your thoughts.

With love and light,
Kanika Kaushal

The Spotted Cucumber

One fine day, tired of "always my way," I reached for comfort, or maybe just a craving. Picked up a spotted cucumber— Seemed harmless enough, so why not? But the moment I touched it, it pricked. Unwanted timber in my hands, Yet I let it be—what else could I do? Hunger led me to peel its layers, Only to find the filth it hid underneath. Worms writhing where freshness should be, Rot, disguised as something nourishing. I thought it was doing me a favor, But all it did was make me sick. Never knew comfort could leave such a taste— Bitter enough to spill my guts out. Next time, I’d rather reach for something rich, Something warm, indulgent, and worth my time. A smooth, chocolaty éclair— Rather than ever go for such a comfortable, unhealthy affair.

Us Two

As the hands struck two… Can you feel my hands on you? The power of the universe with just us two I am so into you. Who’s counting the minutes? Only we know what we brew. Even if the world fades to dark, We shine brighter in our spark. Your lips brush my nape, Undoing the shyness of my drapes. As your fingertips trace me, I melt like that slice of brie.

Temptress

I wanna be your temptress, Get you down on my mattress. You be the king, I'll be your empress. I already have a clear purpose, You can trace every curve and surface. I've got one mission for you— Are you built for the secret service? Let me take a bite of that apple, Can you make me pray without taking me to the chapel? They call me a wolf, but I will bear your saddle, Make me howl like the moon's lone disciple. Either play this like a boring game of Scrabble, Or get your armor on and be ready for a passionate battle.
