That Winter's Tale

"Winter’s Tale" - A Song of Betrayal and Rediscovery Set against the quiet chill of a Bangalore December, this piece tells the story of a young woman who, for the first time, let her guard down, only to be met with betrayal. Written in the rhythm of a song, it captures the fragile beauty of trust, the sting of abandonment, and the fierce resolve to rise again. It’s a journey through cold endings and the warmth of self-discovery. Verse 1 He couldn’t believe, someone loved him so, A heart laid bare, but he let it go. Played his games, kept his cards down low, Then threw out names in a cruel little show. Chorus Promises grand, but always a no-show, Words so cold, like the winter snow. He laughs at me, with his Ho Ho Ho, But the truth will shine, let the whole world know. Verse 2 He chased the cash, he chased the fame, But his empty heart just fed the flame. A victim’s mask, his favourite game, While I fell apart, drowning in pain. Chorus Promises grand, but always a no-show, Wor...

Play

When you have Sabrina Carpenter's songs on repeat and can't resist writing.  Happy Birthday, girl and congratulations on your hit single Espresso. Don't care if it is night or day- You are hotter than this summery May. Let your boys hit the hay; Baby, I am all yours to play. Make me your muse, Mould me like clay; Baby, I am all yours to play. Sail your ship, Bring it to the docking bay; Baby, I am all yours to play. Skin like mulberry silk, Not a rag doll, not easy to fray; Baby, I am all yours to play. Run your fingers through my hair, Make me sing like a blue jay; Baby, I am all yours to play. Yes, I am all yours to play.

This piece channels the caffeinated chaos and emotional whirlwind Sabrina Carpenter so perfectly captures in Espresso . Life often brews its moments of longing, confusion, and hope in the same cup, and this poem reflects that blend. It’s a playful yet heartfelt dive into vulnerability, love, and the tug-of-war between guarding our hearts and daring to feel. Inspired by both Sabrina’s raw storytelling and my personal experiences, here’s a snapshot of emotions that keep me awake at night. Those low-rise jeans... We are no longer teens... You made me forget who haunts my dreams... Put a smile on my face, changed the sound of my screams... But now you are aloof... Afraid to share a roof... Still guarding your heart with a bulletproof... Threw dozens of ropes to pull you out of the kloof... There is a decade to forty... I am all ready to be your shorty... We have no portals like Rick and Morty... Even without that eyebrow slit, you are a hottie... Don't act like a clown... I can't t...

Speak My Mind

No longer liked when started speaking my mind. They ask, "What happened to you girl ?" Why are you now so unruly and unkind? Only wanted me when it was easy to shove. Now you ask me to forget and rise above. Can't you let it go, it was my first. Where was this attitude when you wanted to quench your thirst. Let it be, I too have a sister. What if someone else did that to her mister? From Babe to Bitch, Only took months for the 7-year itch. It is 21st century so dine and dash, Otherwise would have been a Salem witch trial bash.        I am no longer afraid to speak my mind.        Even if I am seen as unruly and unkind. ~ Kanika Kaushal ✨ The Luminous Muse

Who We Are??

Who we are? I keep wondering.. We both have been hurt.. Our hearts are still bleeding.. We are a mess.. Yet I still confess.. I have dreamt of being in your arms.. I have had with others and their love bombs.. As the world is going gaga over their musical mayor.. Not one of the "Tortured Poets".. But I bare my soul.. Even if it lacks all the flair.. You poured your love into my empty cup.. Maybe I am too burnt out after dealing with the prig.. That I lost myself and caught the ick.. No longer know how to play the grown-up.. So, who we are? Are we lovers or friends.. Or two strangers who pretend.. Maybe this is, how it ends... When the veil of insanity drops over.. I see you are not my four-leaf clover.. You knew this all too well.. I feel better in my own clamshell..

Drunk in Love

Thought it was about time to let go of my insecurities. What could be the worst, so decided to face my fears. Yup, I wrote a damn poem to tell you how I felt. Put you on a pedestal and danced around like hell. Cause, I loved the fact could make you laugh and enjoy as well.   But Ohh God, I didn't know You had some made up words No matter who the person was Your replies were similar No baby, you weren't drunk on rum, When you replied to all my text. It was my stupid heart that couldn't accept the fact That I was pretty drunk in your love Trying to live it back Thinking maybe I am the one who made all the mess.   No, no I had enough of your same lame reasons. I don't want you to miss me and don't want me to miss you too. So, hey there baby, I wish you the best. Have a blast with your new girl and, If you ever run out of things to say to her, just copy our text. Cause, I don't wanna be drunk in your love. No, not again, this time I am gonna leave you on...

Broken

Broken hearts and broken pieces Said will be there to iron the creases I stayed at the door  Wishing to hear the words you said before Broken flowers and broken vases Eating out in the China dishes I was on the ground  You flew away while I was gasping for some air around Broken masks and broken faces Smiling at the hourly praises I hear voices in my head Left with all the mess on the bed Broken words and broken promises All of this was just some business I called out your name Now all there is fear, guilt and shame. Broken hearts and broken pieces Broken flowers and broken vases Broken masks and broken faces Broken words and broken promises I might be at fault, I need to pick it all.

Paws with Flaws

Let me tell you a story rare In a jungle far away from here A camaraderie between an unlikely pair The Tale of a tabby-cat and a Hare Maybe it was summer or the start of fall When they stumbled upon each other But before we go on with their journey Know a bit about the kitty and the bunny The puss seemed dainty but was fierce And the tiny thing had grizzled hair Mighty and reticent was the hare A bit callow but alluring and fair So when they met and started to chat Wondered what's common between a rabbit and a cat But they enjoyed each other's anecdotes and little spats Account of some events and stories of combat To the bunny, the feline was acute and prudent But the kitty too was flawed and full of imperfections Till the time they were frolicking, everything was fine Until one day havoc broke on their lives A fine day when both were strolling through the bushes They discovered ...

Do you remember?

Hey, do you still remember, All the things, we bonded over. Can you name them in one go, Or should I count and let you know? About the course, we would rather do, When we were running from the summer loo. Adventures of Han, Leia and Luke. Who among R2 or BB-8 is cute? Choosing fav from the superhero clan, And shouting friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man 🕷 All the songs that got the fame, While listening to Akcent's That's My Name. Believe me, it's not just these four, If you are ready we can count on some more. The temper tantrums that we threw, The childhood skirmishes as if we were Sun Tzu. The crushes that we had, All the things we did to make each other mad. A bunch of Happy Meals that we ordered, Fighting for the toys and getting them reordered. Splurging our banknotes, Me on Indian coins, you on World currency notes. No, I am not done at eight You might forget but I am not letting them fad...

All we will ever have - "History"

We had a history, even before we ever knew Standing next to each other in the queue You might not remember but I do Some years later, don't know which day The brief talk that we had in the hallway About the galaxy far far away Fast forward to the year eighteen Your name popped up on my screen We talked all night as if high on caffeine Was afraid because it seemed too good to be true Said you will be there when I need you to Didn't know then what you would put me through I asked you, will you be there When I might go off the rails You said don't worry let's unfurl the sails But when the push came to shove You just left me and took all the love I felt like a battered dove Know, I too made a mistake But was it worth the heartbreak You slept peacefully but I was awake And you blamed it all on me Wonder why just couldn't see All you wanted was to break free And when I asked you to stay But you believed in making hay While I cried, you ...
