Mirror Dimension

Have you seen through it all? Did your heart ache when the angels took the fall? Were you breathless while you were drowning in that mess? Did you look for the light when it was nothing but countless empty nights? Did it ever feel like this - just a face in the crowd, hiding from the otherworldly kiss? Did you see it all clearly, how you escaped death, nearly?

Until Noon

I can feel the distance, But my body craves you. I am howling at the moon, Hoping you love me until noon. It’s winter, and everyone is covering up, But I will drop every single layer for you. Will you make the bedpost creak? Like the way we break our Duolingo streak? Or will you be my Count, And leave your marks on my neck? Will you drink away my life force, Or give me your immortal kiss? Who would care about saving it for daylight? We are creatures of this starry night. Will you save me with your sword, Be my Guinevere’s Sir Lancelot ? These boys keep talking about getting high at the pub. Would you do me the honour of the Mile High Club? Will you track my curves like an F1 circuit? Or be like kids fighting over the gully cricket? Come get me, while the night is still young, And we erase the distance with our tongues.

Game Of Fire and Ice

Hey Mister, Why won't you play a game of Twister? I promise I won't play coy. Won't you love it if I were your only toy? You can be the Lion in the boardroom, Then make me roar in the bedroom. Let's play the game of fire and ice. You bring the sugar, and I get the spice. I am praying by myself these nights, Drowning my moans when the city sleeps tight. We can play the game of Super Sonic, And then have our own race over some gin and tonic. So find me, like an app can find a phone. No, I won't bring out my Medusa and turn you into stone. I have been getting over my fears, Learned to make my tears into spears. You can take me as you like. We can go until we hear the third strike.

Call Your Wife... Call Your Mother...

Call your wife. Call your mother. Tell them how you talk to women like me when no one's watching— But of course, I'm the Outspoken B tch*, and you, the Outstanding Gentleman in your suit and tie. But sure— I’d rather be outclass than be hung like sea bass on your trophy wall, smiling silent while you call me “crass.” Your twisted kinks. Your polished lies. You think I won’t roar? That I’ll tuck in my shadow just to keep your sin safe? I own my dark. Loud. Proud. You will not cage me with your guilt-laced chains. If you were so happy choosing her over me, Then go flirt with her . Not me. Don’t you dare come here with your diluted apologies and leftover lust. I’d rather be The villain in your story Than your sidepiece in silence. Because I remember— You were a playboy then , You’re still a playboy now , And every time you smile and say “We’re still friends”… God, I puke a little. You know your name. Don’t play lost boy. Don’t hide behind your “Good intentions.” I used to care...

With You

This year has been monumental for female pop music, with icons like Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, and Rosé leading the charge. Taylor's Eras Tour became one of the biggest and most impactful tours in history, a celebration of her entire career and the music that defined multiple generations. Sabrina Carpenter gave us her hit album Short N Sweet , filled with catchy tunes and heartfelt lyrics. Rosé’s collaboration with Bruno Mars on "APT" brought a smooth blend of pop and R&B, and Ariana Grande stunned us with her insane vocals as Glinda in Wicked , proving yet again why she’s one of the greatest voices of our time. These women crafted anthems that delved into themes of love, self-discovery, and the connections that bind us all. Inspired by their unforgettable music, here’s my short poem—a little ode to the magic of love, discovery, and the melodies that make life feel like a beautiful journey. The unspoken words between you and me, Un...

Betty Or Veronica

I used to think I had it all figured out—sweet, bold, or somewhere in between. But life’s struggles have a way of shifting that. How do you hold onto yourself after losing pieces along the way? I thought I am a Betty, sweet as can be, But sometimes I’m a Veronica, wild and free. Even if I’m chatty, I won’t hide my claws, I’ll be a little catty, breaking all your laws. I can dance on tables, sing all night, Or curl in a cradle, tucked in tight. That’s how I felt, oh, that’s how I felt— Once so bold, now the cards have been dealt. All my hope turned to despair, What’s the point to share or care? When the youth of my life should’ve been bright, A monster came creeping in and stole my light. Now I just hope to live with that loss, No clue where I lost the girl boss. The world didn’t scare me, I held my ground, Now every whisper feels like a wound. I pretend I’m grown, I pretend I’m whole, But it’s just a mask over a fractured soul. Still, deep inside, there’s a spark I won’t smother, A dre...

Bare - Finding Strength in Vulnerability

They laughed at me, Saying, I cry easy. "It is just a movie." But I was only ten., Learning to write with a pen., Still amused by who came first - egg or hen. I started swallowing my pain., Always waiting for it to rain., Not realizing the growing weight of my chain. Now, I am learning to be free, Solving my mystery., So, I can flourish like a tree. I don't want to take any potions. Only want to make sense of all my emotions. Overcoming all the preconceived notions. No, you can't catch me with a snare; Hoping to glide in the air, As I lay bare. ~ Kanika Kaushal ✨ The Luminous Muse

Space

Take up the Space;  There is so much to Embrace. Play your cards right- Always bet on Ace. If you lose a Race, Show yourself, Grace. There is more than one path; Don't be afraid even if got stuck in a Maze. Sometimes pull back and Retrace, Make adjustments and set a new Pace. Put a smile on your Face, And keep taking up Space. ~ Kanika Kaushal ✨ The Luminous Muse

Dream On

Can I advance to writing songs?? Please, comment and let me know.  I feel like an empty vessel, hun; I can't make any more Kessel runs. The weight feels too much on my trestle, Mum. I tried to nestle myself rather than have fun. But I don't wanna feel like this anymore; I have dreams to live that I adore. I wanna stay afloat and reach the shore- My life can't be a sad lore. So, baby girl just move on (move on), Throw these bags, And get your groove on (groove on). After every dusk, there is a new dawn; Burn like the sun but still dream on. Dream On... I feel like I lost my Babylon; I wish I could feel like an Amazon, So, I could fight these Megalodons- Anything is better to do than babble on. Yeah, I don't wanna feel like this anymore; I have dreams to live that I adore. I wanna stay afloat and reach the shore- My life can't be a sad lore. So, baby girl just move on (move on), Throw these bags, And get your groove on (groove on). After every dusk, there is a new daw...

Play

When you have Sabrina Carpenter's songs on repeat and can't resist writing.  Happy Birthday, girl and congratulations on your hit single Espresso. Don't care if it is night or day- You are hotter than this summery May. Let your boys hit the hay; Baby, I am all yours to play. Make me your muse, Mould me like clay; Baby, I am all yours to play. Sail your ship, Bring it to the docking bay; Baby, I am all yours to play. Skin like mulberry silk, Not a rag doll, not easy to fray; Baby, I am all yours to play. Run your fingers through my hair, Make me sing like a blue jay; Baby, I am all yours to play. Yes, I am all yours to play.

LIFE imitates ART

A poem inspired by the works of famous artists like Edvard Munch, Pablo Picasso, Peter Fendi and Vincent Van Gogh.  All these artists and their respective artworks traverse the depths of human emotions like sadness, anxiety, grief and loss that resonate with many of us. Therefore, I have written the following elegy, taking these pieces as my muse. I am not Edvard Munch, But my screams are real. They aren't painted, But left my soul tainted. Can someone steal them? Maybe that would heal me. I am not Dora Maar, But my tears are real. They aren't because of a war, But still shook me to the core. Can someone steal them? Maybe that would heal me. I am not Austrian, But my sad messages are real. They have no news about a dead husband, But my heart is bludgeoned. Can someone steal them? Maybe that would heal me. I am not Van Gogh, But my expressionism in poetry is real. They aren't avant-garde, But I feel charred. Can someone steal them? Maybe that would heal me. I am not a legend...

V

This piece channels the caffeinated chaos and emotional whirlwind Sabrina Carpenter so perfectly captures in Espresso . Life often brews its moments of longing, confusion, and hope in the same cup, and this poem reflects that blend. It’s a playful yet heartfelt dive into vulnerability, love, and the tug-of-war between guarding our hearts and daring to feel. Inspired by both Sabrina’s raw storytelling and my personal experiences, here’s a snapshot of emotions that keep me awake at night. Those low-rise jeans... We are no longer teens... You made me forget who haunts my dreams... Put a smile on my face, changed the sound of my screams... But now you are aloof... Afraid to share a roof... Still guarding your heart with a bulletproof... Threw dozens of ropes to pull you out of the kloof... There is a decade to forty... I am all ready to be your shorty... We have no portals like Rick and Morty... Even without that eyebrow slit, you are a hottie... Don't act like a clown... I can't t...

Third Wheel

Here is one of my early poems that I wrote way back in my college days.  I thought we were happy with a 2-seater, But then you got bored and wanted to upgrade her. Was afraid to let it go, 'Cause it took a while to balance so. You were so fond of the new style and design; I thought to give it a chance and stop the whine. Slowly and slowly we got hold of it, Started loving the mobile every bit. We went to places that we never knew, Created amazing memories- red, green, yellow, black, white, and blue. Then all of a sudden something took a backseat; One tyre busted in the scorching heat. Scared that repairing this will cost you money and time, Took hold of the new 2-wheeler and continued the regime. Was alone with the rubbery mass, But kept on working to make it outclass. You went on with the new roller by your side, And I went on to build my lost ride. Fond of your latest 2-seater ride, How you forgot about the 3 seater which was your pride. Dated: 29 - 10 - 2015 ~ Kanika...

The Girl I Love

She is the one, that I never thought I would meet. She is the one, who throws a shade in  Summer heat. She is the one, who makes all the colors pop. She is the one, who dances to indie and hip-hop. She is the one, who believes in the Jedi lore. She is the one, with whom you will never snore. She is the girl that I love.. She is the girl who is a foxglove She is the girl that I love.. She is the girl who reminds me of a dove She is the girl that I love..

In a galaxy far away... (Part IV, Act 1)

My love for everything Star Wars is well known among my peers.  From binge watching the movies to cosplaying as Slave Leia to making a Star Wars inspired Warli Art that was appreciated by Todd Cherniawsky, Production Designer and Art Director, known for Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022).  Here I am combining my amateur poetry prowess and the screenplay of NEW HOPE (1977).  Let me know in comments how I did and should I continue with it... There was a farm boy named Luke Skywalker in a galaxy far away, Wishing he was somewhere else as he watched the twin sunset everyday. He lived on Tatooine with his Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, A family of moisture farmers and who drank milk colored blue. Luke wanted to go to Tosche Station to pick up some power converters, But instead had to clean up 2 droids without bad motivators. The droids were part of the rebel alliance, Whom the Galactic Empire couldn't beat into compliance. The droids were always on missions, One of them was R2-D2 and his counte...

Speak My Mind

No longer liked when started speaking my mind. They ask, "What happened to you girl ?" Why are you now so unruly and unkind? Only wanted me when it was easy to shove. Now you ask me to forget and rise above. Can't you let it go, it was my first. Where was this attitude when you wanted to quench your thirst. Let it be, I too have a sister. What if someone else did that to her mister? From Babe to Bitch, Only took months for the 7-year itch. It is 21st century so dine and dash, Otherwise would have been a Salem witch trial bash.        I am no longer afraid to speak my mind.        Even if I am seen as unruly and unkind. ~ Kanika Kaushal ✨ The Luminous Muse

Not Playing Small

I have been told, I often write sad and depressing poems and maybe a little complicated poems that are difficult to understand and grasp. So, here is a fun little poem that I wrote while in a preppy mood. Esperando Que Les Guste.. I am tired of playing small. I would rather have a ball Stretch my wings and fly No longer want to crawl and cry Maybe have a little chat On a talk show with Chris Pratt Or maybe go on a tour  With likes of Mandy Moore Well there is so much to do Could star in a movie too Shoutout to Sam Raimi and Jon Favreau Can I be part of Spider-Man and woo you two Lend my voice to a Disney character Or get roasted by Simon Cowell on X-Factor Create my own little Jannat Be a party guest at Mannat I am cool with making memories Hang out with family and friends wearing fun accessories Added the lines to sound well-rounded Otherwise may get hounded Have all my dreams come alive And let myself thrive So let me heal and heal tonight Climb and fall but still reach new heigh...

Who We Are??

Who we are? I keep wondering.. We both have been hurt.. Our hearts are still bleeding.. We are a mess.. Yet I still confess.. I have dreamt of being in your arms.. I have had with others and their love bombs.. As the world is going gaga over their musical mayor.. Not one of the "Tortured Poets".. But I bare my soul.. Even if it lacks all the flair.. You poured your love into my empty cup.. Maybe I am too burnt out after dealing with the prig.. That I lost myself and caught the ick.. No longer know how to play the grown-up.. So, who we are? Are we lovers or friends.. Or two strangers who pretend.. Maybe this is, how it ends... When the veil of insanity drops over.. I see you are not my four-leaf clover.. You knew this all too well.. I feel better in my own clamshell..

Wither Away

There was a time when it all seemed like a child's play, Now, I am praying to wither away. There was a time when I got excited about the payday, Now, I am hoping they predict another doomsday. There was a time when I felt like the main character in a Broadway, Now, I wish I knew how messed up is my life's screenplay. ~ Kanika Kaushal ✨ The Luminous Muse

Drunk in Love

Thought it was about time to let go of my insecurities. What could be the worst, so decided to face my fears. Yup, I wrote a damn poem to tell you how I felt. Put you on a pedestal and danced around like hell. Cause, I loved the fact could make you laugh and enjoy as well.   But Ohh God, I didn't know You had some made up words No matter who the person was Your replies were similar No baby, you weren't drunk on rum, When you replied to all my text. It was my stupid heart that couldn't accept the fact That I was pretty drunk in your love Trying to live it back Thinking maybe I am the one who made all the mess.   No, no I had enough of your same lame reasons. I don't want you to miss me and don't want me to miss you too. So, hey there baby, I wish you the best. Have a blast with your new girl and, If you ever run out of things to say to her, just copy our text. Cause, I don't wanna be drunk in your love. No, not again, this time I am gonna leave you on...
